Award-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist Leticia Maher is inviting you to ‘step into her parlour’ for an intimate evening of musical delights as she presents her Sunday Soirée for The Darebin Music Feast.

Based on her successful Adelaide Fringe seasons in 2010 and 2011, Leticia has invited an eclectic list of her favourite performers to join her for this cabaret-style feast on Sunday 4 September, at Studio 1, Northcote Town Hall.

Enjoy showcase sets from Leticia and her special guests - Noriko Tadano traditional and original pieces on the Tsugaru Shamisen (Japanese Banjo); The Hazelman Brothers acoustic alt-folk with soaring thee-part harmonies; Dean Haitani warm acoustic soul/funk/blues; and Sweet Felicia & the Honeytones infectious blues/swing - capped with a special song featuring all performers. Leticia’s set will premiere some new compositions, as well as songs from her acclaimed album Fallen Angels, backed by Greg Williams (guitar/backing vocals), Zac Watson (bass).

  • Noriko Tadano has performed solo at the Sydney Opera House, played at the WOMADelaide world music festival, and has also appeared on the popular ABC music quiz show ‘Spicks and Specks’
  • The Hazelman Brothers released their debut album ‘Eyesight Like an Owl’ in 2010. The songwriting craft of Chris, Mick and Stu harks back to storytelling traditions, but with a modern feel.
  • Dean Haitani’s music is a melting pot of contemporary roots influences. He has performed at blues festivals around Australia and recorded seven albums.
  • Sweet Felicia & the Honeytones are regulars at blues/folk festivals and hold the MBAS Blues Performer of the Year Award; this year they took part in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA.
  • Leticia Maher’s Fallen Angels album gathered strong community and ABC airplay around the country. Leticia has become a regular performer at the Adelaide Fringe.

The Music Feast show celebrates the French tradition of sharing music with a select group of people in a relaxed setting. Leticia says: “I found that this style of performance really suits my music, and allows me the freedom to tell stories about my songs and makes the audience feel more a part of the music. I'm really excited to be the host and sharing the stage with such awesome musicians, each with different musical backgrounds. There will be CD giveaways and a few laughs between each act, it's gonna be a really fun night...”

“Leticia Maher has been catching the ears of many. Her guitar and voice combine to create sometimes touching, sometimes cheeky tales of a life well lived.” Melbourne Fringe (Oct 2010)

This year, Leticia presented five shows at the 2011 Adelaide Fringe, as well as touring the album around Victoria NSW and SA. She was also nominated as a top four finalist as “Victorian Best Female Vocalist” in the 2011 Victorian and National Country Music Awards (also a 2005 finalist). Other highlights included an appearance at the St Kilda Festival, a support show for the Black Sorrows in Geelong, and a guest appearance on ABC Radio’s Coodabeen Champions show.
